Jane Espenson is a veteran Mutant Enemy script writer who was responsible for the Firefly episode “Shindig.” She has also written for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Deep Space Nine, Ellen, Gilmore Girls, and Star Trek. She lives in Los Angeles.
Firefly was a very short lived, but wonderful television show created by Joss Whedon (Buffy and Angel). Victim of truely warped programing–even if you wanted to watch the show it was impossible to find–it was cancelled after a short run. The entire season of episodes that were produced is now out on DVD, in the correct order and with commentary by creator Joss Whedon, and several of the show regulars. A movie based on the show featuring all of the original cast members, titled Serenity, was released in September 2005.
